Job Description of flood underwriter

Candidate’s main task is to handle underwriting applications in conformity with federal rules for policies under the National Flood Insurance Program.

Candidate is in charge of evaluating applications and making informed decisions after analyzing data to rate applicants. During the process he collaborates and coordinates with others to compile information supporting underwriting decisions.

Candidate should be prepared to travel for up to 40% of the year as part of work responsibilities with 25% travel compensation allowed. It is also necessary that he/she apply within 2 years for and obtain certificate as Associate in National Flood Insurance.

He must remain available from 8.15 AM to 5 PM. His job involves coordinating with all agents to resolve all their issues through LiveChat besides helping them quote and training them, underwrite new business and interpret guidelines of NFIP manual.

He will also check and correct errors, collaborate on internal audits and re-underwrite in specific cases, conducting transactions in conformance with NFIP rules while resolving complex flood insurance related issues.

Qualifications flood underwriter

Candidate must have at least a High School Diploma (College degree preferred) with about 2-3 years of experience in National Flood Insurance Program with knowledge of Flood Insurance Reform Act 2012, Advanced flood insurance rating, marketing, computer and typing skills, verbal and written communication skills, handle customers and work under pressures to meet deadlines. Bilingual candidates preferred.
